“Take a busload of women away for a day with God!What a crazy thought! At that time in 2006, I was on a personal retreat seeking rest, replenishment and direction from God. My life was busy and full. I was struggling to balance marriage, parenting three sons (ages five, seven, and sixteen), a speaking and writing ministry, and a growing new organization called Hopelifters How could I possibly find the time or energy to organize a bus trip?”

(From Hopelifter: Spreading Hope When Life Hurts, p.17)

My friend and I prayed about it and felt God leading us forward. In God’s perfect timing four years later we connected with a Christian owned and operated bus company, Masters Touch Tours.   In March of 2010, I invited women from age 13 to 81 to be our guest and get on board for Hopelifters’ first Hope On Wheels day away with God adventure.

Participants boarded a bus and traveled to a retreat center where they soaked in rest, ministry and encouragement for the day.  Hopelifters’ raised funds and developed partnerships for this event and encouraged participants who were able, to ‘pay it forward’ for a woman on a future trip.  The next bus trip focused on women who lost children, scheduled just prior to Mother’s Day. This mothers’ trip has grown into an annual tradition for Hopelifters in Arizona. Hopelifters has also sponsored a variety of other bus trips including You Can Be a Hopelifter tour, Ready Your Heart for Christmas tour, and Thanks and Giving tour.

Questions you may have about Hopelifters Bus Tours

Q-Who Can Attend the Bus Trips?

A Any woman who is 18 years or older and desires a time of restoration, rest or replenishment or who needs a break and time away alone to recharge and reconnect with God.  Some women bring a friend or a small group for a mini-retreat.  Most come alone.

We are a Christ-centered organization and will have speakers or activities that support our beliefs although we do not require participation.  All activities are optional.

Q-What is included on a bus trip?

A Bottled water, snacks and all meals (Continental breakfast, lunch and dinner)
We provide a variety of other items and gifts depending on the trip.

Q-What do I need to bring?

A It varies, depending on the time of year.  We’ll send you a list of suggested items.  Some women bring a small cooler, lawn chairs, or blankets.

Q-How much does it cost?

A We do not charge for bus trips, rather we raise funds through sponsors, fundraisers, and women who attend bus trips who are able to “pay it forward”.   The cost of each bus trip varies and a suggested donation is $75 per person.

Q-Can I sponsor a seat for someone?

A Yes

You can underwrite the cost of a seat for a woman to attend or give it as a gift to them for a birthday or Christmas gift.    You may also honor someone living or deceased by sponsoring a seat in someone’s name.  Many sponsor seats on our annual Mother’s Day Tour to honor someone who has lost a child or loved one.  We  read the person’s name on the bus, send them a personal card and let them know they were honored and someone invested in a bus seat and a woman in the name of their loved one.Sponsor a Seat for someone on a Bus Tour

Q-Can my business become a sponsor?

A Yes.

We are always open to explore varying levels of sponsorship opportunities for every bus and will consider each request to make sure a service or product is appropriate.

Q-Can I bring a group on your bus or book you to do a bus for our group?

A We are open to explore opportunities to serve your group or church.  One small church women’s ministry leader decided to use the bus trip as a mini retreat opportunity and brought several ladies.  We are also open to customize a trip to meet your needs.

Choose the cause or bus theme you are passionate about. Perhaps you want to encourage moms with special needs children, or women who have survived cancer, or women in transition. I am willing to explore possibilities and also consider ways to showcase your business or service.
